Business Process Management enabled by Service Oriented Architecture
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a business-centric IT architectural approach that supports integrating your business as linked, repeatable business tasks, or services. With the Smart SOA implementation approach, you can find value at every stage of the SOA continuum, from departmental projects to enterprise-wide initiatives.

BPM Business Rules Integration SOA

EDA is an architectural style for using software modules/services where the modules are designed to post or receive event notifications. It is typically used in applications such as business process monitoring or algorithmic trading where real-time or near real-time performance is required. Just as services are at the core of SOA, an event is the key artifact in the design of EDA-style applications. Again, just like services in SOA, events must have a business scope to be employed across applications and enterprises.

Event Driven Processing (EDA) within an SOA context is that its functions can respond to changes in states or “events”. This is important as it allows organisations to evolve and operate in real time and so meet today’s demands for increased responsiveness and agility.
  • There is increasing pressure to process events as they arrive rather than in batches. Business Processes and BPM solutions should support realtime events
  • Investment Banks are moving to the T+1 (Transaction Date + 1 Day) world and then to T+0.
  • EDA has to be integrated with a BPM Suite to support and respond to events.
Business Activity Monitoring (BAM)
Event Driven Architecture provides the foundation for real-time reporting and this can be realised using BAM tools where data streams can be connected to controls on forms
